Hello! This is my firsy blog so I'm not 100% sure on exactly how this whole thing works..
but I have an idea I'm quite excited about and I wanted to get my ideas down : )
At the moment I am a fashion student studying at Coventry College. My course consists of everything, fashion design, pattern cutting, garment construction, fashion illustration.. and I have to say I love it. It's so diverse and I' contantly being challenged so it's always interesting and new. I have another year left on the course, and In all honesty, I'm unsure as to where I want to go when I leave. University seams like a good idea, but I am worried about getting into debt and not being able to support myself when I'm there, which got me thinking about a way to make a bit of extra money for myself. At the minute I work at a mini supermarket just up the road from me.. and I hate it.. its so mundane 
and BORING. I can't bring myself to do that with my life for the next 5 years until I'm out of education fully..I know what I want to do when I leave Uni, I want to open my own little boutique shop, that sells one of pieces of lingerie and dresses that make the woman whose wearing them feel beautiful. I could happily sit out back all day making clothes.. So I thought that for now, maybe I coud set up a little online shop and sell my pieces through there. Rather than waiting a few years and hoping for the best, I can totally perfect my style, find out what works and what doesn't, and maybe get a reputation started with a few loyal customers..
It's just an idea but I'd love it to take off! Going to start making the patterns I'll need over the next few weeks when college is over. Need to think of a shop name also! Hmmm..
I found these pictures on the AP website, clearly, they're stunning, but they're also
expensive, we're talking £50 for a pair of knickers.. whilst some women might be able to afford that, I know I defintly can't! But why should I have to make do with tatty, poorly made and badly designed underwear sets?I shouldn't! And that's where my idea originated from, and why I think it will work. I won't be producing my garments in a factory which needs enough profit to justifty it's size, nor will I have employees that need wages paid for. I shall be doing this in my summer house, on my own with good music playing whilst I work!
This is just the first stage of my idea, I still have alot of thinking to do and issues I'll have to resolve.. But I'm hoping that within the next month I'll have some really nice bits for sale : ) I'll keep posting up photos of my progress, from paper to the hanger!
If I get a few people reading this blog, it would be nice for your feedback, especially on pricing and stuff, It's always nice to know what an outsider thinks of your idea.. as sometimes you can love something so much you don't realise how much it actually doesn't work lol.
